PLACE AND DATE OF BIRTH: Sofia, Bulgaria. January 20, 1955.

Born and educated in Sofia, Bulgaria, Dr. Luchezar Hranov Has been working as a clinical psychiatrist since 1981 and at present is the head of a psychiatric clinic in the University Hospital “Sveti Naum” in Sofia and an associate professor at the Department of Psychiatry of the Medical University in Sofia.
Dr. Hranov has authored/co-authored 26 publication in high-level peer-reviewed international scientific journals, has presented 27 presentations and 23 posters at international scientific meetings. He has been a reviewer for several international scientific journals, lecturer in several international teaching courses/schools, participant in more than 30 multi-national scientific projects. His work has been cited 1100 times in 14 different languages.

On the national level Dr. Hranov has authored/co-authored 8 books and book chapters and 161 presentations at national scientific meetings. He is a mentor of 5 Ph.D. theses and co-founder of a national award for distinguished young Bulgarian neuroscientists.

Dr Hranov is a founding member of the Bulgarian Psychiatric Association, officer of the Executive Committees of the Scientific Society for Neuropsychophar­macology and Neurosciences in Bulgaria and the Danubian Psychiatric Association, member of the European College of Neuropsychophar­macology, the International Society of Bipolar Disorders and the International College of Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum.

His main scientific interests are bipolar disorder, panic disorder, OCD, psychopharmacology.
